Did you know that your bathroom sinks, kitchen sink, dishwasher, fridge, and washing machines, all have water supply lines that go from the shut-off to your fixture? The life expectancy of these supply lines are 8-10 years. It is best practice to replace them every 5-7 years. If you haven't replaced them in the last 5-7 years, it might be time to do so. Pioneer Plumbing is happy to assist with the replacement of your water supply lines and anything else that is needed in your home.

Another topic of discussion is wax seals. Each toilet in your home has a wax seal that keep the water from your toilet from leaking on your floor when you flush. Wax seals can last up to 30 years without needing replacement. The types of things that can be a telltale sign you may want your seal replaced would be if your toilet is loose and wobbling back and forth. This would cause the wax seal to over-compress and then possibly leak. Another sign would be if the silicone around your toilet is dark in any section. This would indicate that there could be a slow leak under the toilet from the wax seal.

If you would like your supply lines, or wax seal on your toilet replaced,

Please Note:

  • When replacing fixture supply lines there is a common problem that may come up. In some instances, the shut-offs to the fixture will not hold. There is a rubber washer inside the shut-off that can deteriorate over time. In the event a shut-off doesn't hold then we would either need to abandon replacement of the supply lines for that fixture or need to shut off the main supply to your unit so that we can complete the repair. While the water is off to your unit we could replace your fixture shut off at that time. This would be billed at time and material.
  • If the shut-offs hold there is still a chance that the deteriorating washer will cause some issues after the new supply lines are installed. The washer can sometimes deteriorate into larger chunks and get pushed up into the bathroom or kitchen faucet affecting water flow. If this happens pioneer would charge our time to fix this for you and clean out the debris. In some cases, the debris cannot be cleared and a new faucet is needed.
  • Lastly, when attempting to shut off the fixture supplies sometimes they shut off can start to leak. This happens usually when the supply shut-off is very old and hasn't been touched in a while. In this case, we would have to shut off the main water supply to your unit and replace the shut-off.
  • When replacing a wax seal, sometimes the toilet flange which is part of the drainage system that the toilet connects to can be in rough shape. If we found it to be in such bad shape that it needed to be replaced this would be at time and material. In most cases, we can make it work but every now and then we run into an old toilet flange that is starting to fail. This work would be completed on time and material.
  • Any additional work needed would be billed out at $79 per 1/2hr. We charge a 7% administrative fee on all work orders.
